Councils

Advisory Council

The Advisory Council is created as a standing committee for the purpose of providing feedback and essential recommendations on the programming of AMPT: Advancing Nonprofits.

The Advisory Council shall:

  1. Support the selection and recruitment of nonprofit organizations to participate in AMPT Programming, including the Antiracist Restorative Practice Cohort

  2. Assess the impact of programs, projects and events

  3. Serve as guest speaker or facilitator of workshops on behalf of AMPT

  4. Collaborate on ways to hold philanthropy accountable and collectively resource the programs of Black-and-Latine-led organizations in the city.

Funder’s Council

The Funders Council consists of philanthropic leaders across Chicago committed to shifting the paradigm of equitable giving to small, BIPOC organizations on Chicago’s south and west sides.

Why do we have a Funder’s Council?

  1. Help champion the need for investments in capacity building for small Black and Latine organizations that supports their growth over the long term. Explore ways to align capacity building among foundations.

  2. Advise on programs and strategies to educate foundations as to newest thinking about effective capacity building, innovative approaches and opportunities to approach nonprofit support in ways that go beyond traditional grantmaking.

  3. Advise the Executive Director and staff on foundation outreach and stewardship of existing grants and keep AMPT informed about current initiatives and conservations in the field related to AMPT’s mission and priorities.

  4. Help build a community of funders who are interested in building the capacity of small Black and Latine-led organizations on the West and South sides.
